Paramount to distribute ‘Wasted on the Young’

Paramount Pictures are set to distribute Ben C. Lucas’ debut feature Wasted on the Young in Australia and New Zealand in early 2011.

With a fictitious private school setting as the backdrop, the film tells the story of half- brothers, Zac and Darren, whose opposing positions in the schools social spectrum are amplified after a traumatic incident at a alcohol-drug fuelled party, to horrifying effect.
The film explores modern day youth politics and peer pressure with the use of text messaging and social networking as a storytelling device.

Studio Ripple were charged with turning the composers character themes into score and gave it its edge with the music production and mix.

57th Annual Sydney Film Festival

The Studio Ripple team is once again represented at the Sydney Film Festival – June 2 sees the launch of the festival and worldwide premiere of “South Solitary”. The Studio Ripple team worked closely with Jigsaw Music, orchestrating Mary Finsterer’s music and attending the recording sessions.

The 2010 festival is also premiere for West-Australian director Ben C. Lucas’ debut feature, “Wasted on the Young”, in which Studio Ripple were charged with turning the composers character themes into score and mix.
The Studio Ripple team also show credits in two other films appearing in this years’ festival – Mark Lewis’ long awaited “Cane Toads: The Conquest” and drama-documentary from Gaylene Preston “Home By Christmas”.

Two New Features

Tomorrow When The War Began, Stuart Beattie’s directorial debut based on the best-selling book by author John Marsden, and South Solitary, written and directed by Shirley Barrett (Love My Way, Love Serenade) were the latest projects to occupy the Studio Ripple team. Working closely with Jigsaw Music we orchestrated for the two quite dissimilar scores by Reinhold Heil and Johnny Klimek (TWTWB) and Mary Finsterer (SS).

South Solitary will preimere at the Sydney Film Festival on June 2.
Tomorrow When the War Began is due for release in September.

DreamWorks Feature

Accidents Happen Orchestrations

Accidents Happen, the debut feature by director by Andrew Lancaster and staring Geena Davis in her first independent film, was released Australia wide last month. The comedy drama features yet another stylistically imaginative score by the 2 time AFI award winning composer Antony Partos, for which Studio Ripple had the pleasure to orchestrate. This long awaited film (its been many years in development) has been creating a stir amongst critics across Australia and the world.
